Kenya is geographically located near Ethiopia. Since the 1950s, Kenya is known for its new and improved version of Bourbon coffee (SL28 and SL34) that has a multitude of flavors and an unparalleled lemon scent. The Gatomboya coffee factory is formed by several small farmers and plants traditional unmodified types of coffee. The way coffee is processed here also follows the traditional method, which involves handpicking of ripened cherries and using water processing on the same day. Thereafter the beans are left to dry on African drying beds. This coffee has attained a high score of 92 and then 91 in a famous coffee appreciation website, Coffee Review. In both reviews, the medium roast accentuates its variety of flavors and layers of aroma. Therefore this is a must-try for those who prefer the sour and tropical fruity notes of Kenyan coffee.
Description of taste: Similar in fragrance to that of Valencia sweet oranges, pineapples and red grapefruits, layered and varied in taste. After a slight cooling, flavor changes from peach to citrusy apple; nonetheless it possesses the bright and charming sour taste unique to Kenyan coffee throughout.
