Specialtycoffee micro estate that was a Finalist at BOP over tens of times 

 

Finca La Valentina is a local micro estatein Panama with an area of 12.5 hectares. Out of which 8.5 hectares is not only usedto grow the relatively common Typica, Red Catuai, and Pacamara cofee, but also Geishacoffee after 2008, which now represents 50% of the total production volume. Theestate has an altitude between 1500 to 1675m, other than growing coffee, theremaining 3.5 hectares consists of primeval forests and various fruit trees,including cypress trees, pine trees, and eucalyptus trees. It is a typical subsistence-farmingestate.

Finca La Valentina is most well known forbeing crowned champion at the 2011 Best of Panama awards, with a high cuppingscore of 92.3 points. It not only defeated the gold standard - La Esmeraldaestate, its bidding price even broke the record then with 70.25 USD per pound. Inthe following years it went on to amass a long list of accolades for itself.

The owner Mr David Osorio was born in 1865in a small island off the southern coast of the Carribean Sea known as Curacoa.He moved to Panama’s Boquete region in 1915 and started the family business incoffee, naming the estate after his mother, Valentina Baxter de Osorio. Such isthe kind of familial bond that holds the family together and also symbolises thepride they take in their identity as a family-run coffee business.
